THE VENUE

Celebrating Love at a Historic Italian Landmark

Nestled in the heart of Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, Villa Cimbrone is a historic gem that has captivated visitors for centuries. Originally built in the 11th century, the villa’s stunning gardens and breathtaking views have made it a symbol of timeless elegance. Over the years, it has hosted aristocrats, artists, and royalty, earning its place as one of the most sought-after venues in Italy. The villa’s famous Terrace of Infinity offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean, providing a perfect backdrop for our celebration. With its rich history, charming architecture, and serene beauty, Villa Cimbrone is a magical setting for our special day, and we are thrilled to share this unforgettable experience with you all.

OUR STORY

Like many modern love stories, Josh and Emily met the classic 21st-century way - online, on Hinge. From their very first messages, the conversation flowed effortlessly, and they quickly decided to meet in person. After their first date, Josh walked Emily home but didn’t kiss her goodbye. Emily left feeling a little disappointed, convinced she probably wouldn’t hear from him again.

Thankfully, she was wrong. Josh was simply being a gentleman and he reached out soon after to plan their second date. Emily was supposed to be leaving town, so they figured they’d see each other after her trip. But Josh couldn’t wait that long. Just a couple of days after their first date, he asked to see her again before she left.
From that moment on, everything just fell into place. What started as a simple swipe turned into something truly special, and Josh and Emily have been doing life together ever since.

THE PROPOSAL

The proposal was nothing short of magical. While staying in Sorrento, Josh asked Emily to step out onto the balcony of their hotel. Overlooking the stunning Amalfi Coast, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.

In the weeks leading up to their Italian adventure, Josh had the tough task of keeping the secret from Emily, no small feat for her keen, type-A personality. He even went so far as to keep the ring hidden in his “hockey jersey closet,” knowing it was the one place she’d never look.

Despite her natural curiosity, the proposal was a complete surprise and absolutely perfect. Their time together along the Amalfi Coast was so special that they decided there was no better place to celebrate their love than right there in Italy sharing the beauty, romance, and joy of the place that marked the beginning of their next chapter.

REACHING RAVELLO

NAPLES TO RAVELLO (closest airport)

The easiest way to get to Ravello is by flying into Naples International Airport (NAP), then booking a car transfer from Naples to Ravello. It is approximately a 1-hour drive.

We do not recommend renting a car, unless you are experienced in driving on the Amalfi Coast, as the cliff-side roads are very narrow and winding. Please also keep in mind that parking is very limited in Ravello (and everywhere on the coast).

ROME TO RAVELLO

If you’re traveling from Rome, we recommend arranging a private transfer that will pick you up from the airport and take you directly to Ravello. It is approximately a 3-hour drive.

There are no direct trains to Ravello. The train will take you from Rome to Naples (approximately 1.5 hours). You will then need to take a private car from the Naples train station (Napoli Centrale) to Ravello. It is approximately a 1-hour drive.

NEW TRAVEL REQUIREMENT

Beginning in mid-2025, Italy will require travelers from the United States to apply for the "European Travel Information and Authorization System" (ETIAS).

The online application has not yet been released, but we are closely monitoring and will provide updates as soon as it becomes available. We suggest signing up for ETIAS notifications here: https://etias.com/etias-application

PASSPORT REMINDER

The six-month passport rule states that a passport must be valid for at least six months past your intended entry or departure date. Please check yours in case you need to renew it before joining us at our wedding.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS

If you need help booking an airport transfer, please contact Sarah, our concierge manager who will require the following information when inquiring:

Primary Contact
Number of people
Mobile Number
Date
Pick up/drop off point
Flight arrival/departure time
Flight number
Number of suitcases/bags

*Please note that these services will need to be booked at least one month in advance.

Cash payable directly to the driver is preferable; otherwise, a 22% VAT charge will be added to the cost if paid by card. All bookings need to be guaranteed by card in case of cancellation within 48 hours or no show, which will be charged in full.

Due to the winding roads in this area, all guests using transfer services are advised to bring medication if they suffer from travel sickness.

TRANSPORTATION

TAXI SERVICES

If you are looking for local contacts outside of airport transfer services, for shorter trips, please contact one of the following taxi recommendations in the links below.

Otherwise you can find the taxi rank in Ravello outside ‘Hotel Garden’ near the tunnel in Ravello.

Please note Ravello is a small town and not a big city, so Uber does not exist and taxis aren’t available 24 hours a day at the rank.

*Please note that these services will need to be booked in advance in order to avoid long waiting periods.

TRAVEL TIPS

ATM WITHDRAWALS

Most ATMs only allow you to withdraw €250.00 per card per day regardless of your card type, so it is best to bring some cash with you as it is sometimes easier to pay this way in Southern Italy.

GRATUITIES

Tipping is not expected in Italy although of course always appreciated.

TEMPERATURES

The temperatures in September should be more than warm in the daytime (80-85 degrees), but do consider bringing a jacket or shawl in case some evenings are a little cooler.

OUTLETS

Please check the voltage on your appliances - steamers, hair tools, phone chargers, etc. You will need a plug adapter that is compatible for the outlets in Italy, and for appliances that can't support 230v you will also need a converter.

DINING & ACTIVITIES

VISIT THE ISLAND OF CAPRI

Capri is a truly magical place and one of the most popular destinations on the Amalfi Coast.
This island sits just off of the western edge of the Amalfi Coast and can be reached via regular ferries from Amalfi.
Also consider taking an organised trip to see the famous Blue Cave Grotto – this cave complex is absolutely stunning and a boat trip through this subterranean world will surely impress.

SHOPPING IN POSITANO

Positano, the pearl of Amalfi Coast, is among the most beautiful and romantic places in the world. Also known as the city of "Moda Positano" is a must to do some shopping in the many shops ranging from local handicrafts to luxury boutiques, overlooking the waterfront.

COCKTAILS AT PALAZZO AVINO

Palazzo Avino is a stunning five-star hotel located in ravello. Dining at Palazzo Avino is truly a unique experience. You can enjoy a candlelit dinner served in their acclaimed Rossellini's restaurant or a delicious casual meal at Terrazza Belvedere.

PRIVATE BOAT TOURS

By taking a boat tour, you can see a large section of the coast and you do not have to worry about catching a bus or walking up the winding coastal paths.

Furthermore, from a boat, you can view the many towns such as Amalfi, Minori and Positano in all their glory – there is nothing quite like seeing the multi-coloured houses rising against the side of the cliffs and admiring the luscious green landscapes of this beautiful region.

TAKE A COOKING CLASS

You will learn how to prepare a typical lunch of southern Italy’s tradition in its purest and most genuine aspect.

You will be amazed at how simple is to prepare the traditional Neapolitan Pizza. Recommendations include Penisola Experience in Sorrento and La Tagliata in Positano.
*These get booked up well in advance so we would recommend booking as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

FAQs

WILL THE EVENTS BE OUTSIDE?

The welcome party will take place inside and outside.

The wedding ceremony, aperitifs and dancing will take place outside. The wedding dinner will be in an open-air covered space.

In both cases, we'd recommend bringing a light shawl for ladies and a jacket for gentlemen as temperatures may be cooler at night when the sun has gone down.

ANY ADVICE FOR ATTIRE?

Welcome Party: Cocktail Chic
Wedding Day: Formal attire
Boat Day: Luxury resort wear with swim attire

Just a note on shoes: We recommend that you bring heel stoppers if you’re hoping to wear stilettos as the events will mainly be on grass, and the pathways tend to be cobbled so a thicker heel or wedge would be more comfortable. You may also decide to bring a change of shoes for walking up to Villa Cimbrone.

IS THERE TRANSPORT TO THE VENUE?

Transportation to the welcome party will be provided and details will be provided closer to the date.
On the wedding day there is no transportation as Ravello is mainly a pedestrian town and Villa Cimbrone is within walking distance of our suggested hotels.

WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE ON THE WEDDING DAY?

Please arrive for 5:00pm to enjoy a welcome drink in the gardens before the ceremony begins.

WHAT IF I HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY OR INTOLERANCE?

Everyone will be catered for. If you have particular dietary requirements, please outline this on your RSVP once formal invitations are sent.

IS THERE ANYTHING I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT TRAVELLING TO ITALY?

Please see the "Travel" page for information regarding the new "Visa" requirement.

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?

We love your little ones but our wedding events are adults only.

WHAT SHOES SHOULD I WEAR?

Since some of the wedding festivities will be held on grass, we suggest choosing shoes that are comfortable and stable for walking on natural ground. Wedges, block heels, and flats are perfect choices. We want you to enjoy every moment without worrying about your shoes! Heel stoppers will also be provided on site.
